How does the Cynosure™ Elite laser work?
The Cynosure™ Elite laser emits a beam of light that heats the
target area (i.e. follicle or vein). The light energy damages the
target, while sparing the surrounding skin. After a period of
time, a reaction will occur (i.e. the follicle will exfoliate, or the
blemish will slowly and naturally disappear).
Can Cynosure™ Elite laser treat any vein or skin-related
condition in addition to hair removal?
In addition to treating unwanted hair, Cynosure™ Elite laser is
optimized for effective treatment of facial and leg veins, as
well as benign pigmented lesions.
What about facial treatments?
The Cynosure™ Elite laser FACIALSM
visibly reduces redness
and age spots, and gently erases fine lines and wrinkles.
How do I know if I’m a candidate?
If your skin is showing signs of any of the above mentioned
conditions, you are a candidate. A consult with Dr. Bichefsky
will determine your specific needs.
Does the Cynosure™ Elite laser work for all skin types?
Yes, including dark and tanned skin.
How does the treatment feel?
Patients sometimes report a mild discomfort. Our careful
use of a cooling device used in conjunction with the laser
contributes greatly to the comfort of our patients.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the selected treatment(s). Removing hair may
require additional sessions depending on skin and hair type.
Treating sun-damaged skin takes about 4 to 6 sessions, while
1 to 2 sessions are recommended for treating veins and age
spots.
What about side effects?
Side effects are minimal. Patients sometimes report redness or
localized swelling, but these conditions are almost always
gone within 24 hours of treatment.
